Saved runs and comparison
Every backtest you launch is saved automatically. This page shows you how to manage your past runs from the History view and how to overlay several completed runs in Compare mode. The Backtester is available to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro accounts.
Before you begin
- Sign in and run at least one backtest first. For the steps, see Run your first backtest.
- To overlay runs in Compare mode, complete at least two runs. Compare overlays up to three runs at once.
Steps
Manage saved runs from History
Open History
In the Backtester header, select History to switch the right panel to your saved-runs list. Each row shows the run's name, its first few tickers, the period, total return, compound annual growth rate, status, and run time.
Search or filter
Use the search and filters to narrow the list to the runs you want.
View a run
Select View on a row to load that run's full report back into the panel. Opening a saved run also updates the page link, so you can bookmark or share that specific run.
Re-run with the same settings
Select Re-run to drop the run's exact settings back into the input form, so you can tweak a field and relaunch.
Optional: rename or delete
Select Rename to change the run's label, or Delete to remove it.
Overlay runs in Compare mode
Open Compare
In the header, select Compare to switch the right panel to the multi-run overlay view.
Add runs to the overlay
Use the picker to add up to three of your completed runs. Their equity curves are rebased to 100 so different starting amounts compare cleanly on one chart.
Read the metrics table
Read the side-by-side metrics table below the chart. It lines the runs up on total return, compound annual growth rate, volatility, Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, max drawdown, VaR 95, up and down capture, alpha, and beta, and highlights the best run for each metric.
Optional: swap runs
Add or remove runs from the picker to compare a different set.
Outputs
From History, View loads a saved run's full report, Re-run reopens its settings in the form, and the page link updates to point at the run you opened so it can be bookmarked or shared. In Compare mode, the overlay chart rebases each run to 100 at its own start, so the lines rank the strategies directly against one another, and the metrics table marks the best run for each metric. For how to read the rebased overlay chart, see Charts and graphs.
