Run your first screen

This quickstart walks you through your first screen in the Research terminal, GNG Research's stock and ETF screener. You will open the table, set a filter, choose the columns you want, sort the result, and read the matching companies. By the end you will have a working screen you can save and reload. The screener is open to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro accounts; access is gated at the column level, so a large core set is available to every tier and a premium set requires the Pro plan.

Before you begin

  • Sign in. The screener loads for any signed-in account.
  • Decide what you want to find. A value, dividend, growth, quality, momentum, or quant screen all run on the same surface.
  • To screen with the GNG proprietary scores as columns, to use larger page sizes, or to export, use a Pro account. Free and Pro Lite see the identical core column set.

Run your first screen

  1. Open the Research terminal

Open the Research terminal from the main navigation. The table loads with a default set of columns: symbol, company name, sector, last close, market cap, P/E, and the GNG rating columns where your tier has access.

  2. Set a filter

Select Filters to open Advanced Filters. Pick a category, then set a condition. For a first income screen, set Dividend Yield to a minimum of 3, then select Apply Filters. The table narrows to companies that meet the condition.

  3. Choose columns

Select Columns to choose which metrics appear. Search or browse by category, check the ones you want (for example, Payout Ratio and Dividend per Share), and select Apply. Drag to reorder them if you like.

  4. Sort the result

Select the Dividend Yield column header to sort by it. Select it again to reverse the direction, so the highest yields sit at the top.

  5. Read the table

Read each company across its row, then compare companies down a column. The count line shows how much of the matched universe is loaded, in the form "Showing X of Y companies." More rows load as you scroll.

  6. Open a company

Select a row to open that company's full research page in a new tab. For what that page shows, see Company page overview.

  7. Optional: save the screen

Select Create View to save the current filters, columns, and sort under a name, so you can reload the exact screen later. On Pro, select Export to download the result as CSV, Excel, or PDF.
