Design a panel with AI

Instead of seating every panelist by hand, you can ask the host, GNG Analyst by default, to draft a balanced panel for your topic in one step. The host reads your question, proposes a set of complementary one-time panelists, and suggests a mode and round style that fit, then drops them into your council as editable seats. This page is for War Room users on the Pro plan and above who want a fast, well-rounded starting lineup they can refine.

Before you begin

  • Open the War Room from the AI Console. It is available on the Pro plan and above, and access is rolling out in waves, so an eligible account may not see it yet.
  • Write a topic of at least four characters first. The Design panel with AI action stays disabled until the topic is long enough.
  • You do not need any saved subagents. The designer builds one-time panelists for this room, so you can start from an empty table.

Steps

  1. Write your topic

In step 1, Topic, describe the discussion you want the council to have. A clear, specific question produces a sharper panel than a vague one.

  2. Select Design panel with AI

Under the topic box, select Design panel with AI. The host reads only your topic text to assemble the panel.

  3. Confirm a replacement if your table is not empty

If you already seated panelists by hand, the room asks Replace your current table? and notes that the designed panel will replace the seats you have configured. Select Replace seats to continue, or Cancel to keep your lineup. An empty table skips this step.

  4. Wait while the panel is drafted

The button reads Designing your panel... while the host works. It sizes the panel to the topic, seating three to ten one-time panelists, fewer for a focused question and more for a genuinely multi-sided one, and picks a mode and round style it judges fit for the topic.

  5. Review and edit every seat

The drafted panelists appear in your lineup as editable one-time seats, and the mode and round style update to the host's suggestion. Review each seat, then rename it, rewrite its point of view, change its tools, remove it, or add your own before you start.

Outputs

A finished design gives you a seated table you can run or keep refining, described in the following list.

  • A drafted panel: three to ten one-time panelists sized to the topic, each with a name, a point of view, and, where useful, a fitting model, a tool set, and a one-line reason it is at the table. These are one-time seats, so they are not saved to your subagent library.
  • A suggested format: the mode and round style update to what the host judged fit for your topic. You can change either one in step 3, Format.
  • A sizing rationale: a one-line note explains the panel the host chose, so you can see why it seated a focused pair or a wider multi-sided table.
  • A cost line: a one-line note confirms what the step spent, for example "Panel designed. Spent N GNG credits. Edit any seat below before you start."
  • Full editability: every drafted persona stays fully editable before you start. Rename it, rewrite its persona, adjust its tools, remove it, or seat more panelists of your own.
  • A safe failure: if the design step fails, the room shows a clear error and does not swap in a panel of its own, so your current table is left untouched. Try again, or seat the table by hand.

Designing a panel is a starting point, not a verdict. The council still has to run before it produces any research, and that output is research support, not a recommendation.
