Data sources
Data sources explains the outside providers that stand behind the figures across the platform, so you know where a quote, a fundamental, or a filing originates. This reference covers the two public providers a reader should understand and how to trace any figure back to one of them. It is open to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro accounts.
What it shows
The platform draws on two public data providers, described in the following sections.
AlphaVantage
AlphaVantage is the source of market data and company fundamentals. This includes prices, valuation inputs, financial statement figures, earnings dates and estimates, dividends, and the company profile used for sector, industry, exchange, and market value. Nasdaq quotes are delivered through AlphaVantage rather than from a separate connection.
EDGAR
EDGAR is the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission public filing system. It is the source of company filings, including the Form 4 insider transaction reports shown on the insider trading page.
Figures are presented as supplied by these providers unless a page states that the platform computes a value. Refresh timing is described on each feature page.
Inputs
This is a reference page with no controls.
Outputs and how to read them
Read this page as a provider reference. Use it to trace any figure on the platform back to AlphaVantage, for market data and fundamentals including Nasdaq quotes delivered through AlphaVantage, or to EDGAR, for public filings.
How it is calculated
This page lists providers; it does not compute values. The calculations behind each figure are documented on the feature page that shows the figure.
Data and timing
The providers are AlphaVantage and EDGAR. Refresh cadence is set per feature: the earnings calendar and insider trading feeds refresh daily, and other pages state their own timing. Provider attribution itself changes only when the platform adds or changes a source.
Use cases
- Confirm whether a figure originates from market data (AlphaVantage) or from a public filing (EDGAR) before citing it.
- Understand that quotes labeled Nasdaq are delivered through AlphaVantage rather than from a separate connection.
- Explain to a colleague where the platform's numbers come from at a high level.
Limitations and disclosures
Data accuracy and timeliness ultimately depend on the named providers. The figures the providers supply are information you may act on, so the standard information-only statement applies.
