Run your first screen

This quickstart takes you from opening the Options Screener to a first useful, filtered result and a contract detail card. The Options Screener is available to signed-in Pro accounts. Free and Pro Lite do not include access. By the end you will have narrowed the market to one option type and a days-to-expiration range, sorted the result, and opened a contract to study its history.

Before you begin

  • Sign in with a Pro account. Anonymous visitors are shown the sign-in prompt.
  • Decide what you want to find, for example liquid puts with high implied volatility rank, or near-the-money high-gamma calls. A goal makes the filters quicker to set.

Steps

  1. Open the Options Screener

Open the Options Screener from the Tools menu. The table loads with a default set of columns: Symbol, Type, Strike, Expiration, DTE, Last, Bid, Ask, Volume, Open Interest, Delta, IV, IV Rank, and Liquidity. It shows the most recent snapshot for the whole market.

  2. Focus on one underlying (optional)

To look at a single stock, type a ticker into the search box at the top, for example AAPL. The entry is forced to uppercase as you type. A short entry matches the symbol exactly, and longer text also searches contract IDs. Leave the box empty to keep the whole market.

  3. Narrow the list with a filter

Select Filters to open the filter panel. On the Contract tab, set Type to Call or Put, and set a DTE (days to expiration) range, for example 30 to 60. Select Apply Filters. The table reloads from the top with only the matching contracts.

  4. Sort the result

Select any column header to sort by that metric. Select the same header again to flip between ascending and descending. To rank by liquidity, for example, sort the Liquidity column descending.

  5. Open a contract

Select any row to open the contract detail card. It shows a price-and-Greeks history chart, grouped metric cards, a link to the underlying stock's research page, and a full day-by-day history table.

  6. Optional: run a preset strategy

Select GNG's Queries and choose a preset such as High-Probability Premium Collection. Select Run Query to apply that strategy's full filter set and sorting in one step. Select Learn More on any preset to read its goal, approach, illustrative examples, and risk notes.

  7. Optional: export your results

Select Export and choose CSV, Excel, or PDF to download your current filtered, sorted result set, using the columns you currently have visible.
