Channels and messages

Inside the community chat, you read and post in rooms organized by topic, reply in threads, send direct messages, and react to messages. This page explains what each part shows, how to read the feed, and which plans can use it. Channels and messages are part of the community chat, a Pro feature; Free and Pro Lite accounts do not have access.

Before you begin

Sign in on a Pro account, or on the Platinum or Enterprise plans above Pro. Channels and messages are part of the community chat and are not available on Free or Pro Lite accounts.
Open the community chat first. To reach it, see Join the community chat.

Quickstart

Pick a room
Choose a room (channel) from the list, grouped by sector, strategy, and event.
Read the feed
Read the message feed top to bottom. Newest messages arrive at the bottom in real time.
Post a message
Type into the message box at the bottom of the room and send.
Reply or react
Reply to a specific message to thread a side conversation, or add a reaction to acknowledge a post.

What it shows

Rooms (channels): topic-based spaces grouped by sector, strategy, and event. You pick a room and read or post in it. Some rooms fill up around live events such as earnings.
Messages: a running feed of posts from members and GNG analysts, newest at the bottom, streaming in live.
Author labels: each message shows who wrote it. GNG analysts are visually marked, so you can tell a team member apart from another subscriber.
Replies and threads: reply to a specific message so a side conversation stays together instead of cluttering the main feed.
Direct messages: private one-to-one conversations with another member.
Reactions: quick emoji responses on a message, so you can acknowledge or agree without adding a new post.
Message box: the field at the bottom of each room where you type and send.

Inputs

Message text: free-form text you type into the message box. No default. Select send to post.
Room selection: which room you read or post in. The default is whichever room you last had open, or a starting room when you first arrive.
Reply target: optional. Reply to a specific message to thread it, or post to the room generally.
Reaction: optional. An emoji you apply to a message.
Direct message recipient: another member you choose to message privately.

Outputs and how to read them

The message feed is the main output. Read it top to bottom for the flow of conversation, with the newest messages arriving at the bottom in real time:

An analyst marker tells you a message is from the GNG team rather than another subscriber.
A threaded reply shows which message it answers.
A reaction count shows how many people responded to a post.

How it is calculated

Not applicable. Channels and messages carry conversation. There are no calculated figures, scores, or forecasts.

Data and timing

All content is member-written and analyst-written, delivered live. No market data, valuations, or ratings are generated in the chat. Messages appear the moment they are posted, and keeping the tab open keeps the feed current.

Use cases

Follow the dedicated room for a stock around its earnings print and read analyst reactions as the numbers come out.
Ask a focused question in a sector room and get answers from members who follow that space.
Thread a reply to one analyst's note so the back-and-forth stays readable.
Send a direct message to continue a conversation privately, or react to a useful post to acknowledge it.

Tier access

Channels and messages are available to Pro members and to the Platinum and Enterprise plans above Pro. Free and Pro Lite accounts do not have access. The current plans and what each includes are shown below.
