Floating AI widget
The floating AI widget is a GNG Analyst panel that floats in the corner over most pages. It lets you ask a question or run a quick analysis without leaving the page you are on, and it shares one chat history and one GNG Credits balance with the full AI Console. This page explains what the panel shows, the controls you use, how to read each output, and how it stays in sync with the full console. The widget is designed for all signed-in tiers (Free, Pro Lite, and Pro), it is rolling out rather than live for everyone, and you can hide it yourself.
Before you begin
- Sign in to your account. The widget appears on most signed-in pages.
- The widget shares your chat history and credit balance with the full console, so anything you do in one shows in the other.
What it shows
- A round launcher button fixed in the bottom-right corner of most signed-in pages, showing the GNG Analyst icon, with a tooltip. It is hidden on the full AI Console page and on sign-in pages, where it would be redundant.
- When opened, a compact chat panel with the parts in the following list.
- A header showing "GNG Analyst" and the current chat title, plus icons for usage and balance, settings and memory, conversations, an expand or collapse control, an "open full console" shortcut, and a minimize control.
- A conversation area with message bubbles, including a context line noting which page you are on.
- A balance strip at the bottom showing your GNG Credits balance with a "Top up" link, or an "Unlimited" indicator for accounts that are not metered.
- A compact message composer with Send and Stop controls.
- A conversations subview: your list of chats, with new-chat and per-chat delete controls.
- A settings subview: a main-model picker, a reasoning-depth picker, and inline memory files you can create, edit, enable or disable, and delete, with an "Expand" link to the full memory manager.
- A usage subview: your available balance, a button to view detailed usage and calls, and a "Buy credits" button.
- Suggested starter prompts on an empty chat, for example a portfolio-performance summary, a sentiment check, a sample backtest, or a dividend-history comparison.
Inputs
- Launcher: opens the panel. Default: closed.
- Message composer: free-text question or command. Enter sends, Shift and Enter add a newline, Stop cancels a streaming reply, and Escape cancels while streaming.
- Model picker (settings): chooses the analyst model for this chat. Defaults to your account's default model.
- Reasoning-depth picker (settings): Low, Medium, or High. Defaults to your account's default, Medium if unset.
- Memory files (settings): a name and content per file, plus an active toggle. Active files are fed to the analyst on every chat. No file is created by default.
- Conversations: select a chat, start a new chat, or delete a chat. Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.
- Maximize toggle: switches between the corner panel and a larger centered panel. Default: corner.
- Open full console: navigates to the full AI Console, carrying the active chat.
The widget remembers your active chat between visits, so reopening resumes the same conversation.
Outputs and how to read them
- Analyst replies: stream into the panel exactly as in the full console, including any widgets the analyst produces, such as charts, tables, and backtests.
- Balance strip and usage subview: your GNG Credits balance. An "Unlimited" indicator with an infinity icon means the account is not metered. "Top up" and "Buy credits" route to the billing credit-refills area.
- Page-context line: tells you which page the analyst is treating as your current context, so its answers can be grounded in what you are looking at.
- Conversations list: your saved chats. The widget is a second window onto the same chat history as the full console, and the two stay in sync.
How it is calculated
The floating widget is a relocated view of the same AI Console chat experience and performs no calculation of its own. Any numeric results come from the analyst's tools and follow the same standard math as the corresponding full-page tools. Any GNG scoring it references stays on its published scales, as on every other surface.
Data and timing
The widget shares one live chat history and one credit balance with the full AI Console, updating in real time across tabs and between the widget and the full page. The data the analyst reaches is the same as the console: your own portfolios, watchlists, and memory, market quotes via AlphaVantage (Nasdaq and other exchange quotes delivered through AlphaVantage), and filings context from EDGAR. Quotes are as current as the rest of the platform.
Use cases
- Ask a quick question about the exact page you are on, a ticker, an article, or your portfolio, without navigating away.
- Continue a console conversation in a small corner panel while you keep working on another page.
- Run a fast backtest or sentiment check, then open the full console if the answer warrants a deeper session.
Limitations and disclosures
The widget reproduces full AI Console output, so its answers are research, not a recommendation. The feature is rolling out rather than live for the general population, and you can hide it with a per-account toggle once it appears for you.
GNG Research provides equity research and educational tools, not investment advice. Nothing on the platform is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Do your own research and consider your circumstances before making any investment decision.
