Overview

The Dashboard is your signed-in home base. It stacks market context (indices, movers, sector performance, and news), your portfolio snapshot, the latest GNG research, and product update notes on a single customizable screen. This page is for any signed-in reader who wants a fast, at-a-glance read of the market and their account. Free, Pro Lite, and Pro members see the same Dashboard.

What it shows

The Dashboard is a read-only surface that gives you a quick picture of the market and your account. It is built from a set of modules, stacked top to bottom, that you can show or hide. The modules are described in the following list.

  • Market Overview: a compact strip of six broad-market index funds (S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow Jones, Russell 2000, Total Market, and International), each with a current price and a return for a period you pick.
  • Recent Updates: a paginated list of platform announcements and product update notes, including new features, improvements, bug fixes, and releases.
  • Market Movers: the day's top gainers and top losers, filterable by company size.
  • Top Market News: the most recent market and company headlines, each linking out to the original source.
  • Sector Performance: a sortable table of the 11 stock-market sectors with returns across several time periods, color-shaded by strength.
  • Latest Research: the newest GNG articles, with a featured lead article and a short list beneath it.
  • Portfolio Summary: a sidebar snapshot of your default portfolio, including total value, cash, positions, unrealized profit or loss, cost basis, and a top-holdings allocation chart.
  • Customize Dashboard: a settings panel of on and off switches that hide or show each module and save the layout to your account.

To read each figure, use the color and the sign. Green numbers mean a gain, red means a loss, and a long dash means the figure is not currently available. Selecting a mover, a sector, an article, or a news headline takes you deeper: a stock page, the article, or the source site. The Manage button in Portfolio Summary opens your full portfolio.

Each module has its own controls, figures, and timing. For the full set of inputs, outputs, and formulas, see the Dashboard widgets page.

Use cases

The Dashboard suits a few common starting points, described in the following list.

  • Start your session with a short read of whether the broad market is up or down and which sectors are leading.
  • Glance at your portfolio's value and day move without opening the full portfolio screen.
  • Catch the latest GNG research and any platform announcements in one place.
  • Spot an unusual single-day mover to research further on its stock page.

Limitations and disclosures

Market data, returns, movers, and news are informational and are not recommendations to buy or sell. Market Movers and sector returns are based on a daily market snapshot, not a live tick stream, so they reflect the most recent snapshot rather than the current second. Index and sector returns are price-only and do not add back dividends.
