Manage your profile
The Profile screen is where you control your identity on GNG Research. Set your name, picture, and username, change your email or password, connect a second way to sign in, decide how your name appears publicly, manage your subscription, get your referral link, and, if you ever need to, schedule deletion of your account. The Profile screen is open to every signed-in member on Free, Pro Lite, and Pro.
Before you begin
- Sign in to your account. The Profile screen is only available to signed-in members.
- Open the Profile screen at gngresearch.com/profile.
- To change your email, have access to both your current inbox and your new inbox, because the change is confirmed from both.
- Decide on a username before you set one. You can change it only once.
The profile navigation links to Subscription, Refer & Earn, Profile, Sign-In, Passkeys, Username, Display, Social Links, and Blocked Users. It also shows your avatar, name, plan name, and plan status.
Steps
Set your name, bio, and picture
In the Profile (Identity) section, enter your Full Name and a short Bio. To change your avatar, select Change picture and upload a standard image file. These fields take effect when you save.
Change your email
Your email is read-only on the page. To change it, select Change next to the email field, enter a new email address, and confirm. You must confirm from both your old and new inboxes before the change takes effect.
Set or change your password
In the Sign-In Providers section, select Set Password or Change. Enter a new password of at least 6 characters and enter it a second time to confirm. If you already have a password, enter your current password first.
Connect Google sign-in
To add Google as a way to sign in, select Connect Google. The Google account must use the same email as your GNG account. Once connected, you can sign in with either method.
Set your username
In the Username section, enter an @username of 3 to 30 characters using letters and numbers only. Confirm when prompted. You can change your username only once, so choose carefully.
Choose how your name appears publicly
In the Public Display section, turn on Show username only to display your @username publicly instead of your full name. This switch is off by default and stays disabled until you have set a username.
Add your social links
In the Social Links section, add or remove links to your social profiles. Each link is a platform name plus a URL.
Save your changes
Use the save bar at the bottom of the page to Save or Cancel changes to the editable fields. Saved fields take effect immediately.
To manage your subscription, use the Upgrade or Manage button in the Your Plan section, or the Billing and plans shortcut. For the full billing walkthrough, see Plans and billing.
Manage passkeys and blocked users
In Passkeys, use Add Passkey, Rename, and Remove to manage device-based sign-in. Follow Passkeys for setup, sign-in, and error guidance.
In Blocked Users, review the people whose comments and community watchlists are hidden from you. Use Unblock to restore their content. See Blocked users.
These actions save separately from the profile's general save bar.
Get your referral link
In the Refer and Earn section, copy your personal referral link to share. The tiles show the reward your friends get and the reward you get, along with an activity strip. The referral program is configured by GNG; if it is inactive, both reward tiles show a dash. The same referral engine and its details are described on the Plans and billing page.
Delete your account
The Delete Account section is in the Danger zone at the bottom of the page. Deletion is scheduled, not immediate.
Open the delete dialog
Select Delete My Account in the Danger zone.
Confirm by typing DELETE
Type the word DELETE exactly to confirm. This protects you from deleting your account by accident.
Note the deletion date
The screen shows the date your data is permanently deleted. Deletion is scheduled 30 days after you confirm.
The 30-day grace period works as follows. When you confirm deletion, the actual removal is scheduled 30 days out, and signing back in before then cancels it.
deletion date = today + 30 days
Where today is the calendar date on which you confirm deletion, and 30 days is the fixed grace window. For example, if you confirm deletion on May 31, the screen tells you the data is permanently deleted on June 30, and logging in before June 30 cancels it.
Outputs
Read the indicators on the Profile screen as follows.
- Plan status badge: the state of your subscription, shown as Active, Trialing, Past due, Canceled, Unpaid, Incomplete, Paused, or Free tier.
- Sign-in provider badges: Connected (green) means that method can sign you in; Not connected means the method is available to add.
- Username note: before your change, you see "Changeable once. Choose carefully." After your change, the note shows the change date and "one-time only."
- Refer and Earn tiles and stats: the current "friends get X% off" and "you get Y% per active referral" values pulled from the program, plus your referral activity. A dash means the program is inactive.
The username change limit is a one-time gate, not a computed figure. You may rename yourself exactly once. For example, you sign up as @trader01, later change to @valuehound, and the Change button then disappears with a "one-time only" note. There is no self-service way to change it a second time.
Profile fields are saved when you press Save and take effect immediately. Email and password changes go through a confirmation step. Referral activity figures refresh about once a minute while the page is open. No market data appears on this page.
