Look up a company
This quickstart shows you how to open any company's research page and start reading it. It covers navigating to a company by ticker and getting your bearings once the page loads. Looking up a company is available to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro accounts.
Before you begin
- Sign in to your account. The Research terminal opens to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro members.
- Know the ticker symbol of the company you want, for example AAPL, MSFT, KO, or SPY. Any listed US stock or exchange-traded fund symbol works.
Steps
Open a company by ticker
Go to the Research terminal and select a company, or open a company page directly at the address /stock/ followed by the ticker, for example /stock/AAPL. The page upper-cases the symbol for you, so case does not matter.
Confirm you are on the right company
Read the header strip. The name, ticker, exchange, and current price confirm the company. If a symbol has no data, the page shows a loading or empty state rather than fabricated numbers.
Jump to a section
Select a tab in the sticky section navigation to jump to Overview, Earnings, Dividends, Valuation, Technicals, Financials, Research, or News.
Optional: save the company
Select Add to Watchlist in the header to save the company for later. For the full flow, see Watchlist actions.
Outputs
Once the page loads, the header confirms the company with its name, ticker, exchange, and current price. The rest of the page then fills in each section. No financial figure is produced by the act of navigating; the sections carry the data.
Data and timing
Company identity, price, and logo load from the most recent stored data, then each section fills in. The underlying data is AlphaVantage, with prices delivered through AlphaVantage from Nasdaq, refreshed daily after the close.
Limitations and disclosures
Navigation itself produces no recommendation or figure, so no disclosure is required for this task. Each section that presents a valuation or rating carries its own disclosure.
