Dividend History
Dividend History is the public dividend page for a company. Open it from Dividend Stocks, or visit a company's dividend page, such as AAPL Dividend History.
Before you begin
Choose a covered dividend-paying company. This public page can be read without a paid plan.
Quickstart
- Open the company's Dividend History page.
- Read the trailing dividend summary and the latest ex-dividend date.
- Compare complete years in the annual chart.
- Review individual payment rows for the dates and amounts.
What it shows
| Area | What to read |
|---|---|
| Dividend Overview | Trailing yield and dividend amount, frequency, policy, available growth and no-cut streaks, first recorded payment year, and latest ex-dividend date. |
| Annual Dividends Per Share | Recorded annual amounts. The current year is labeled YTD. |
| Dividend Payment History | Ex-dividend date, payment date, amount per share, and frequency. |
| Questions and answers | A summary of the company's recorded dividend status. |
Growth Streak describes consecutive years of dividend growth. No-Cut Streak describes consecutive years without a cut. They are different measures; a flat dividend can preserve a no-cut streak without extending a growth streak.
Outputs and how to read them
Payment dates
The Ex-Dividend Date and Payment Date refer to different events. Use the payment date for when the distribution is due. A missing payment date displays as unavailable.
The table can include special or supplemental distributions. Those distributions are excluded from the regular trailing dividend summary. When a company no longer pays a regular dividend, the page describes its last recorded dividend rather than presenting it as a current promise.
How it is calculated
Trailing dividend yield expresses the regular distributions recorded over the trailing year as a share of the available price.
Trailing yield
TTM dividend yield = regular dividends per share in the trailing year / share price x 100
regular dividends per share is the sum of eligible regular distributions in the trailing period. share price is the available price used by the page. For example, regular dividends totaling 2 per share and a price of 50 give a 4% trailing yield.
This is a historical yield. It is not a forecast based on the next announced payment.
Data and timing
A year-to-date bar is incomplete and should not be compared with a full calendar year as if both periods had ended. Long histories show a recent subset of payment rows, with a notice when older payments are omitted.
Limitations and disclosures
Recorded history can be incomplete or revised. Dividend policies can change, and a long streak does not guarantee another payment.
