News
The News section shows recent company-specific headlines with their source, time, and a sentiment tag. This page explains what the section shows, how to read the sentiment badge, and where the items come from. The section is available to Free, Pro Lite, and Pro accounts.
Before you begin
- Sign in and open a company page by ticker. For the steps, see Look up a company.
What it shows
A list of news items shows the top five, expandable to all. Each item carries a headline, an optional summary, the source, the publish time, and a sentiment badge (Bullish, Somewhat-Bullish, Neutral, Somewhat-Bearish, or Bearish). The sidebar also carries a compact "Latest News" version.
Inputs
- View All or Show Less to expand or collapse the list.
- Headlines link out to the original article.
Outputs and how to read them
- Sentiment badge: green for bullish-leaning coverage, red for bearish-leaning, and muted for neutral. It reflects the tone of the article, not GNG Research's opinion.
- Time and source: help you judge recency and credibility.
How it is calculated
The sentiment labels are provided by the news data source, not computed by GNG Research, so no formula applies here. GNG Research does aggregate a separate sentiment gauge in the sidebar over a selected period, which is distinct from the per-article tags.
Data and timing
Company news and the sentiment tags come from the AlphaVantage news feed. They update through the day as new items arrive.
Use cases
- Catch up on what is driving a stock today.
- Gauge the tone of recent coverage.
- Jump to the primary sources before making a decision.
Limitations and disclosures
The sentiment reflects the article's tone, not GNG Research's view, and it comes from a third party. The sentiment is third-party and descriptive, so no disclosure is required for this section.
