Send and save
Output steps turn completed research into something you can read, download, or receive by email. Choose Chart image, PDF or Excel file, Email me, or Saved report under Send and save. These outputs are available on Free, Pro Lite, and Pro, with plan limits applying to email delivery and workflow size.
Before you begin
- Connect the data or AI steps that produce the required content.
- Test the source result before selecting fields from it.
- For a document, prepare structured document content with a title and sections.
Quickstart
- Add Saved report after a data or AI step.
- Connect the source step to it.
- Enter Report title.
- Select Test and read the preview.
- Select Save in the editor when the result is ready for later runs.
What it shows
Saved report keeps a viewable result in run history and Outputs. Email me delivers content to your account email. Chart image and PDF or Excel file produce downloadable results that can also feed another output.
Inputs
Chart image
Choose Chart type as Line, Bar, or Area, then enter Title. Select Add series, name it, and choose its Data source. Each series needs a list.
For a list of records, use the X and Y field pickers to choose what is plotted. A numeric Y field supplies the measurement; the X field supplies its label or position. Lists of numbers and paired X/Y values are also supported.
X axis label and Y axis label change display text only. They do not select data. For a reference line, select Add line, enter its label, and optionally enter Y value. Without a Y value, the label appears as a footnote.
PDF or Excel file
Choose Format, Style, and optional Title. In Document spec source, select structured content from Structured extract or an AI Analyst with Structured output enabled.
The document needs a title and sections in the required document shape. Ordinary prose or an unrelated set of fields cannot produce the file. Read any source warning. Use Refine to ask GNG Analyst to help prepare suitable document content, then test the result.
The title becomes the file title with the appropriate extension. Manage styles opens reusable appearance choices; see Document styles.
Email me
Enter Subject and choose Body.
- Sections (you build the layout): select Add section, enter a heading, and choose Content source for each section. Remove sections you do not need.
- AI designed (an AI email writer builds it): select AI email writer source from an earlier connected writer. That writer supplies the body and final subject.
In Sections mode, Include chart embeds an earlier connected chart. Leave it off if no chart is connected. Add document link lets you select a Document source to include its downloadable file.
Email goes to your own account email. The form has no recipient list. An AI email writer creates the content but does not deliver it until connected to Email me.
Saved report
Enter Report title and connect the content that should be retained. Use this output when you want to read the result in Workflows without sending an email.
Outputs and how to read them
Run detail previews the completed output. A chart should show the selected measurements, a report should contain the connected research, and a document should open in its chosen format.
An email step can be skipped when all selected sections are empty or delivery is unavailable under the current allowance. Inspect its status rather than assuming every successful run sent a message.
Data and timing
Outputs reflect the data used by their originating run. Reopening an output does not rerun its research. Download links and retained results have limited availability; open Outputs or the originating run for a fresh link while the file remains available.
Charts and files do not add an AI charge by themselves. Any AI step used to prepare their content draws on GNG credits.
Use cases
- Email a recurring brief to your own inbox.
- Save a report for review alongside its supporting steps.
- Download a chart or workbook to keep with your research notes.
Limitations and disclosures
Test can send real email. Event-trigger tests can use sample event information, identified in the email subject. Download important files before their displayed availability ends. Saving or downloading an output does not create a public workflow-sharing link.
