When it runs
Use this reference to choose the condition that starts your workflow. Free supports Manual and Schedule. Pro Lite and Pro also support the event families below, subject to the choices shown for your account.
Manual and schedule
Manual is an explanation in the palette, not a step you add. Leave out a trigger and use Run now after saving the workflow. Test runs the draft from the editor.
Schedule starts on a daily, weekly, monthly, interval, or one-time cadence. See Schedule a workflow for the full procedure.
Event triggers
Add a family under When it runs, then choose its Event where several variants are available. Select the required symbol, portfolio, or watchlist. Save the workflow and turn Active on to enable event starts.
Price move
| Event | Controls and meaning |
|---|---|
| Price move | Choose Symbol, Move threshold (%), Direction, and Measured against. The basis is Previous close or Today's open. |
| Price level | Choose Symbol, an absolute Price level, and the crossing direction. |
| 52-week high or low | Choose Symbol and whether it Touches its 52-week high or low. |
| Gap at open | Choose Symbol, Gap threshold (%), and Direction. The gap compares the opening price with the prior close. |
| Volume spike | Choose Symbol and Volume multiple. A multiple of three means three times the 20-day average volume. |
Technical signal
| Event | Controls and meaning |
|---|---|
| Moving-average cross | Choose Symbol, Moving average, and whether Price crosses above, below, or either way. |
| Golden or death cross | Choose Symbol and Cross. A golden cross is the 50-day average crossing above the 200-day average; a death cross is the reverse. |
| RSI level | Choose Symbol, RSI level, and the crossing direction in RSI. |
These signals describe observed price behavior. They do not establish what a security will do next.
Portfolio, watchlist, and market events

| Position move | Within Portfolio move, choose this event to watch an individual holding's move in the selected portfolio. |

| Rating change | Choose Symbol, Rating source, and Only when it becomes. Leave the target on Any change to match any change in the chosen rating. |

Cooldown and timing
Cooldown sets how long the trigger waits before starting another run after a match. It helps avoid repeated alerts; it does not speed up market-data updates.
Price-related events can use delayed information. Dividend announcements, insider filings, ratings, and calendar events depend on their next available update. An earnings trigger cannot match a symbol with no available earnings date.
Tests and sample events
An event workflow started through Test or Run now can use sample event information. That result demonstrates the workflow's behavior; it does not prove the event occurred. Email subjects identify sample-event runs.
Test results can still include real data from later steps, spend GNG credits, and send an email. Inspect the event step's output before interpreting its figures.
Limitations and disclosures
A workflow has one starting trigger. Plan limits apply to frequency, runs, and available event families. Conditions are research alerts, not instructions to trade.
GNG Research provides equity research and educational tools, not investment advice. Nothing on the platform is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Do your own research and consider your circumstances before making any investment decision.
